SUMMARY:The Death Row Art Exhibit with Joan Noe and Randy Gardner
DESCRIPTION:In 2015\, Joan started writing to Mark Geralds on death row in Florida\, through the Death Row Support Project. Their correspondence continued until Mark was killed by the state of Florida on December 9\, 2025. One of Mark’s creations is part of the Death Row Art Exhibit\, currently on display in Gallery G. Joan is traveling from Illinois to see the exhibit and will share her story of writing and visiting Mark. \nRandy Gardner’s brother Ronnie Lee Gardner was executed by firing squad in Utah in 2010. Randy has been outspoken about the impact of executions on the families of the executed and others involved in the execution process. Randy is a member of Journey of Hope …From Violence to Healing and actively advocates against executions with the organization Death Penalty Action. Mr. Gardner recently learned that his brother’s execution was deliberately prolonged by shooters who aimed off-center and has been highlighting this fact as an issue that should further concern anyone who believes in a prohibition of “cruel and unusual punishment.” \nCome to see 50 pieces of art created by people on death row. Learn more the exhibit. \nLight snacks will be served. The program will begin at 11:15.
